Developed by the Ayers Institute and refined in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Education, this course offers best practices, suggestions, and resources to help new leaders polish their work with the heart of the school --teachers, office staff, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, custodians, coaches, parents, community partners, central office stakeholders, school board members, and of course – students.  Leader work is people work.  Keeping people at the center of the work is foundational for new leaders. 

 

Developed by Vanderbilt University and refined in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Education, this course offers best practices, suggestions, and resources to help school principals more efficiently and effectively manage their teacher workforce. Specifically, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of principles and practices associated with strategic talent management, delivered through four modules: (1) strategic hiring, (2) strategic assignment, (3) teacher support and professional development, and (4) strategic retention. Each course module will focus on the principles, phases, and key questions of strategic talent management, with a particular emphasis on using data for talent management decision making.
